Why a proper hearing test matters
Hearing loss usually creeps in slowly, so it’s easy to miss until conversations, phone calls and family gatherings become hard work. A proper diagnostic evaluation does more than tell you if you have a hearing loss — it tells us the type, degree and exact pattern, which is what makes the difference between a hearing aid that’s merely loud and one that’s genuinely clear.
Our audiologists test in a controlled, sound-treated setup using calibrated equipment, then explain your results in plain language and recommend only what you actually need.

Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
The core hearing test. Measures the softest sounds you can hear across different pitches and plots them on your audiogram.
Speech Audiometry
Goes beyond tones to measure how clearly you hear and understand speech — key to choosing and fine-tuning hearing aids.
Impedance Audiometry / Tympanometry
Checks eardrum movement and middle-ear pressure, including acoustic reflexes, 1000 Hz tympanometry for infants and Eustachian tube tests.
Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE)
A quick, non-invasive check of the inner-ear hair cells (TEOAE & DPOAE). Widely used for newborn and paediatric screening.
Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR / BERA)
Measures how the hearing nerve and brainstem respond to sound using surface electrodes — ideal when a person can’t respond actively, such as infants.
Electrocochleography (ECochG)
Records electrical activity from the cochlea and auditory nerve. Helpful in assessing conditions such as Ménière’s disease.
Balance-related tests such as VEMP and VNG are covered under balance & vertigo testing.
