Range of modern hearing aids fitted at Prism Hearing, Pune

We fit the hearing aid, not just sell it

A hearing aid is only as good as the fitting behind it. We start with a proper hearing test, understand how and where you struggle to hear, then recommend the technology and style that genuinely suit you, never a one-size-fits-all box.

Looking for a hearing aid shop near you in Pune? We are an authorised sales and service centre for six leading brands in Viman Nagar, so our advice isn’t tied to a single manufacturer. And the care continues after the fitting, with fine-tuning, servicing and repairs.

The basics

What a hearing aid does, and who it helps

A hearing aid is a small, programmable device. Its microphones pick up sound, a tiny processor adjusts it to your hearing, and a speaker plays it into your ear, louder in the pitches you miss. Modern hearing aids adapt by themselves to quiet and noisy places, and many connect to your phone.

The audiologist programs it to your audiogram, the chart from your hearing test, so the same model is set up differently for every person. That is why the test comes first.

Hearing aids help people of every age, most often adults whose hearing has changed slowly over the years. You may benefit if:

  • You often ask people to repeat themselves, or feel that everyone mumbles
  • The TV or phone volume keeps creeping up
  • Conversations are hard in noisy restaurants, at weddings or at family gatherings
  • Phone calls are harder than talking face to face
  • Family members say you miss what they say

If you are choosing hearing aids for seniors in your family, our guide to hearing loss with age is a good place to start. Children can wear hearing aids too, after hearing tests suited to their age, such as OAE and BERA. For other changes in hearing, our guides to common hearing problems explain what each pattern usually means.

Styles explained

Which style is right for you?

Hearing aids come in several styles to suit different hearing levels, ear shapes and preferences. We’ll help you choose at your consultation.

BTE (behind-the-ear)

Robust and powerful, sitting behind the ear with a tube to an ear-tip or mould. Suits a wide range of hearing losses, including severe.

RITE (receiver-in-the-ear)

A discreet, popular style with the speaker placed in the ear canal for natural sound. Great for mild to severe loss.

ITE and ITC (in-the-ear)

Custom-made to fill part of the outer ear. Easy to handle and fit, with room for extra features.

CIC (completely-in-canal)

A small custom aid that sits in the canal. Discreet, with a big aesthetic advantage for mild to moderate loss.

IIC (invisible-in-canal)

The smallest, deepest-fitting style, practically invisible from the outside. See our invisible hearing aids page.

Not sure?

That’s exactly what an expert consultation is for. We’ll match the style and technology to your hearing test and lifestyle.

Hearing aids and cost

Hearing aid price: what decides the cost

There is no single hearing aid price. Six things decide it, and your consultation gives you the exact cost of each option that suits you.

Style

Behind-the-ear and receiver-in-the-ear models come in standard shapes. In-the-ear, CIC and invisible IIC styles are custom-made for your ear, and the smallest take the most work.

Technology level

Each brand makes its models in several technology levels, from essential to premium. Higher levels add stronger noise handling and speech-in-noise processing, which matter most in busy places.

Features

Rechargeable batteries, Bluetooth streaming for calls and TV, app control and tinnitus features each add to what a hearing aid can do, and to its price.

One ear or two

If your hearing test shows loss in both ears, two hearing aids usually work better than one, especially in noise. Your results decide this, not the price list.

What the price includes

With Prism, the consultation, audiometry, video otoscopy, home trial, fitting, fine-tuning and six months of batteries come free with your hearing aid.

Care over the years

Hearing aids need regular cleaning and the occasional service. We repair within warranty using genuine parts, with authorised servicing for all six brands.

The fairest way to judge value is to hear the difference, on a free home trial in your own routine, before you decide.

Before you buy, see a doctor or ENT specialist promptly if

  • Your hearing dropped suddenly, over hours or a few days
  • Hearing loss in one ear is new
  • You have ear pain or discharge
  • You feel dizzy and your hearing has changed
  • The change followed a head injury

These need a medical check before anyone recommends a hearing aid. Sudden hearing loss can be a medical emergency, as our guide to sudden hearing loss explains. Please don’t put anything in the ear before it has been examined.

Questions

Hearing aid FAQs

Can I try a hearing aid before buying?
Yes. We offer a free home trial so you can experience the hearing aid in your everyday life before you decide. Fitting and fine-tuning are then included with your purchase.
What is the average cost of a hearing aid in India?
There is no reliable single average. Hearing aids in India range from basic to premium models, and the price depends on the style, technology level, features and whether you need one aid or two. What matters is the cost of the options that suit your hearing, which we give you exactly after your hearing test.
How much does a normal hearing aid cost?
An everyday hearing aid is usually a behind-the-ear or receiver-in-the-ear model, rather than the smallest invisible styles or the top technology level. Its cost still depends on rechargeable or battery power, Bluetooth, and one ear or two. After your hearing test we show you suitable options at different price points and explain the differences clearly.
How much should a quality hearing aid cost?
Quality depends less on the price tag than on the fit: a genuine device from an authorised brand, chosen after a proper hearing test, then fitted, fine-tuned and serviced. A higher technology level is worth most if you spend a lot of time in noisy places, and a free home trial lets you judge the difference before you decide.
Which brand of hearing aid is best?
There’s no single best brand. The right choice depends on your hearing loss, ear anatomy, lifestyle and budget. As an authorised centre for Signia, Phonak, ReSound, Widex, Oticon and Audio Service, we recommend what actually suits you.
Do you provide batteries and accessories?
Yes. We stock genuine batteries, chargers and accessories, and offer servicing and repairs for all six brands we are authorised for.
