Q: Do I need a hearing test before anything else?

For most hearing problems, yes. A diagnostic hearing test shows the type, degree and pattern of any hearing loss, which decides everything that follows. Balance problems start with balance testing, and speech concerns start with a speech-language assessment, often with a hearing check alongside.
